Reason for the award

I’m nominating YSS Resurgence Mission 23: Bad Seed, “Protective Authority Verified,” for the Outstanding Post award because it delivers a powerful science-fiction climax built on compassion, teamwork, and moral understanding rather than simple destruction.

The scene takes place inside the Primary Transit Core of Fort Kuzuryū, where the Resurgence away team confronts the SEED, a damaged ancient construction intelligence tied to dangerous portal technology. Instead of presenting the finale as only a firefight or technical puzzle, the post asks a deeper question: what does it actually mean to protect? The SEED challenges the team to define protection and whether destructive power is the same thing as protective authority. Antonia answers that protection can mean kindness and love as well as force, while Euikoshi warns that the newborn intelligence is learning from everything they tell it. The SEED then states the theme of the post plainly: protective authority is not a title, but action.

What makes this post outstanding is how many characters contribute meaningfully to the resolution. Poppy argues that the SEED should be allowed to grow rather than be erased. Ashlinn notices the physical cause of the transit ring’s contamination risk and helps fix it. Kokoro assists with freeing the jammed machinery. Sanda provides command presence, Euikoshi interprets the danger, Kim observes the alien intelligence, and the whole team’s choices shape the outcome.

The result is beautiful and memorable: the SEED verifies them, stops spreading, preserves local sentient life, pauses construction, and chooses to wait. The post ends not with conquest, but with a hard-won peace, making it especially appropriate for the Khitomer Peace Awards.
