Reason for the award

“God created a few perfect people, and Fred Lloyd modestly will not admit that he’s one of them. But as the creator and longtime master of the USS Firebird simulation of Task Force Gamma of Independence Fleet, he is perfect.

He maintains an almost daily presence in the Discord group for the sim. He is encouraging, reassuring, patient, and exudes all the calm leadership traits one hopes for a Game Master.

He comes up with grand ideas for missions as well as interesting and exciting ideas for individuals to post or joint post. He works tirelessly to post all completed posts, plus check in on players whose posts have stalled. Behind the scenes, he recruits new crew members for the ship.

He is an excellent writer, too. He contributes often, which proves he doesn’t just talk the talk. He and his close allies have assembled a team of players who consistently win writing awards in the fleet.

Fred manages all this while also being married, having a job, having kids, pets, and the world’s longest driveway. All of this seems to feed and enrich his imagination. In his way, as skipper and creator of an award-winning sim, Fred Lloyd is keeping Star Trek fan fiction alive and well for both players to contribute to and non-players to enjoy reading.”
