Reason for the award

“Dr. Poppy Pink deserves recognition as an Outstanding Character because she is one of the most fully developed, memorable, and emotionally important characters in Star Army’s YSS Resurgence plot. Her character bio is extensive, covering her appearance, personality, medical career, relationships, mission history, inventory, art, and awards, and she has been active on the Resurgence for over 5 years.

Poppy is not merely “”the ship’s doctor.”” She is a combat-tested physician, former field medic, counselor, power armor operator, and emotional anchor for a crew that repeatedly faces catastrophic danger. Her characterization balances competence, humor, intimacy, eccentricity, and courage. She is funny and strange enough to be instantly recognizable, but also deeply humane. She even carries a flag so wounded patients can see its familiar colors and know they are in friendly hands.

Her RP record shows consistent impact. In Mission 17, she performed emergency surgery on her crewmate Yoshiro under combat conditions and later treated her crewmate Sanda’s punctured lung. In Mission 20: Hellgrinder, she served as doctor, field leader, medic, morale support, and tactical problem-solver through an extradimensional ordeal, stabilizing wounded crewmates, protecting Sanda and Cassie, and helping lead the team home. In Mission 21: El Dorado, she continued operating despite being seriously wounded and later managed medical response to parasite exposure and pregnancy loss.

Poppy is the kind of character who makes a sim feel alive: she has skills, flaws, jokes, history, relationships, consequences, and a clear role in the crew’s heart. She is beloved in-character and out-of-character, and Star Army’s community members previously voted her Best NPC of 2023.”
